The City of Clarkston is giving the public easier access to crime data around the area thru CrimeMapping.com. The Clarkston Police Department has launched a site to see where and when recent crime has occurred. The crime data will be available on a 180 day dataset and will be searchable by date, crime type and address. The icons are easy to use and they provide information of the type of crime that was committed.
Crime alerts are a popular feature at CrimeMapping.com. Residents can register online to receive free updates via e-mail whenever new crime activity occurs in their area. Users can choose the distance, as well as crimes they wish to stay informed about. The information posted is always current as data is uploaded to the system every 24 hours. iPhone users can download the free app to access Crime Mapping on the go.
The Clarkston Police Department hopes the easier access to crime data will lead to proactive preventative measures that can reduce crime. You can find the tool on the Clarkston Police Department website under the Crime Mapping section.
