City of Clarkston Does Not Condone Racist Comments

(CITY OF CLARKSTON, GA – September 27, 2023) – The City of Clarkston issued the following statement regarding a racial comment that was made by an anonymous saboteur on the Zoom platform during the City Council Work Session on September 26, 2023.

The City of Clarkston publicly does not condone such comments or behavior. Hatred has no place here. Racist comments will not be tolerated during any of our public meetings. We are a community that respects everyone. Furthermore, it is our mission and goal to ensure that public meetings are conducted with the upmost professionalism and unity toward all people.

While transparency is the hallmark of local government, the city is taking immediate actions to adjust the Zoom platform settings to ensure as much as possible that this does not happen again. In addition, we strive to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. One way we are doing this is by creating a position within the city that will play an active role in advancing equity goals and overseeing the organization’s communication and community engagement strategies.
