The HPC was established by the Council, in 2019 , to oversee initiatives including conducting inventories of Clarkston’s historic assets, proposing historic districts and sites, promoting awareness through a wide range of activities, and acting as advisors to public officials related to historic preservation issues. The Historic Preservation Commission is a board of three volunteer citizens of Clarkston who should have professional experience or knowledge in the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology or related professions. The selected applicant will be appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by the Council and will serve a 3 year term. Interested residents should complete the Historic Preservation Commission and submit to the City Clerk.
