Downtown Development Authority
The City of Clarkston Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a public body created to support the economic vitality and long-term success of Downtown Clarkston. Working in coordination with City leadership, local businesses, property owners, and community partners, the DDA helps advance initiatives that strengthen the downtown economy, encourage responsible reinvestment, and enhance the overall experience of living, working, and doing business in Clarkston.
Purpose of the DDA
The Downtown Development Authority is responsible for planning and supporting strategies that promote a healthy and vibrant downtown. The DDA’s work focuses on creating conditions that allow businesses to succeed while improving the physical and economic environment of the downtown district.
What the DDA Does
The DDA may support and advance initiatives that include:
Encouraging downtown business growth, retention, and attractionSupporting redevelopment and reinvestment within the downtown districtAdvancing placemaking and public space improvementsPromoting walkability, visibility, and overall downtown appealCollaborating with City staff, elected officials, and community partnersMeetings and Public Engagement
The Downtown Development Authority meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at 1:00 PM at Clarkston City Hall.
DDA meetings are open to the public, and residents and business owners are encouraged to attend to learn more about ongoing projects, provide input, and stay informed about downtown initiatives.
Serving on the Downtown Development Authority
From time to time, seats on the Downtown Development Authority become available. Serving on the DDA is an opportunity to contribute to downtown planning efforts, support local businesses, and help guide initiatives that align with the City’s long-term economic development goals.
There are currently three (3) open positions on the Downtown Development Authority.
