Georgia Power will be replacing utility transmission poles, requiring road closures and detours. Please plan your routes accordingly and refer to the info below for detailed detour maps.
LOCATION 1: ROWLAND STREET CLOSURE (HILL ST. TO NORMAN RD.)
TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DETOUR PLAN
Location: Rowland St. closure between Hill St. and Market St., Clarkston, GA
Event: Replacement of utility transmission poles 47 and 49
Dates: March 17 – 20, March 24 – 27, March 31 – April 3
Time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
A crane and support vehicles will be positioned at each pole location, requiring full street closures in phases.
DETOUR ROUTES
- Eastbound Traffic (Vehicles & Bicycles): Detour via Hill St., Rogers St., Market St., and back to Rowland St.
- Pedestrians: The northside sidewalk on Rowland St. will be closed. Flagmen will direct pedestrians to the southside sidewalk.
- Westbound Traffic: Rowland St. will be closed to all vehicle and bicycle traffic at Market St.
- Market St. Southbound: Vehicles needing to access westbound Rowland St. will be detoured via Rogers St., Hill St., and Rowland St.
LOCATION 2: MARKET STREET AND ROWLAND STREET INTERSECTION CLOSURE

A crane and support vehicles will be positioned at the intersection, requiring temporary closures and detours.
DETOUR ROUTES
- Rowland St. Eastbound: Closed at Market St. with flagmen allowing limited access for local businesses.
- Rowland St. Westbound: Closed to all vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic at the Path Trail.
- Bicycles: Detour via Norman Rd., Rogers St., Hill St., and back to Rowland St.
- Pedestrians: Detour via Norman Rd., Church St., Methodist Church entrance, and back to Rowland St.
- Market St. Northbound: Vehicles will be directed to turn right onto Rogers St., left onto Norman Rd., left onto Church St., and back to Market St.
- Market St. Southbound: Vehicles will be directed to turn left onto Church St., right onto Norman Rd., right onto Rogers St., and back to Market St.
- City Hall Annex Access: Market St. closure will allow access to the City Hall Annex driveway.
- Traffic Control: A police officer will be stationed at Market St. and Church St. to assist with traffic flow and business access.
