Official DEMA Situational Awareness Alert: Activation of County Cooling Centers Due to Excessive Heat

The DeKalb County Office of Emergency Management and the DeKalb Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) are issuing an Excessive Heat County Cooling Center Activation Notification in response to the forecasted excessive heat conditions for our area.

Activation Dates:

  • Friday, June 28th
  • Saturday, June 29th
  • Sunday, June 30th (Parks/Recreation Centers only)
  • Monday, July 1st

Designated Cooling Stations: Per the DeKalb County Excessive Heat/Cooling Center Action Plan, Level 2 Readiness recommends the activation of designated Cooling Stations. These will be available at:

  • All Parks/Recreation Centers
  • Public Libraries
  • Human Services Headquarters, 30 Warren St SE, Atlanta, GA 30317

The City of Clarkston encourages all residents, especially those most vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, to take advantage of these cooling centers during the activation period. Staying cool and hydrated is essential during periods of excessive heat to prevent heat-related illnesses.
