The City of Clarkston is proud to announce that the Clarkston Greenway Feasibility Study has been honored with the Award of Excellence in Analysis and Planning by the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. This prestigious award recognizes the project team's outstanding efforts and commitment to involving the Clarkston community in shaping a healthier, more sustainable, and safer city for all.

The Greenway Study, a collaborative effort by Perkins&Will, Sycamore Consulting, Perez Planning + Design, Trail Connection, and Purpose Possible, stood out among many submissions for its exceptional quality and significant impact on the Clarkston community. Scored by a jury of their peers, the study excelled in several key areas: quality of analysis and planning, context sensitivity, environmental responsibility, practicality, potential for real-world implementation, and the value it brought to the client, the public, and the broader landscape architecture profession.

One of the standout aspects of the Clarkston Greenway Study was its innovative approach to community engagement. Understanding Clarkston's diverse makeup, the project team prioritized making every resident feel heard and valued throughout the decision-making process. They employed creative strategies, including providing translation services and actively participating in community events, to ensure that all voices were included.

The team's dedication to public input was crucial in identifying ways to connect residents to parks, greenspaces, and popular destinations via footpaths and bicycle routes. By integrating feedback from the community, the study reflected the resident's needs and aspirations, ensuring that the proposed greenway would be both functional and deeply meaningful to those who call Clarkston home.

The City of Clarkston extends its heartfelt thanks to the entire project team for their hard work and commitment to this initiative. This award is a testament to the positive impact of thoughtful planning and community collaboration.

As the City of Clarkston celebrates this achievement, city officials, community partners, and residents are eager to advance the next steps in bringing the Clarkston Greenway to life. The project aims to create safe, accessible, and beautiful routes that will connect the community to all the vibrant opportunities the city has to offer.
